Remember when The Beatles split up? I guess it was nothing compared to what it’s now that NewS are suspended. Fans are pulling out their hair, screaming, crying, raving mad all over the place. And most of them seem to believe that it’s only for the rest of the year and that they’ll be back next year. I don’t think so. I think they’re gone forever, even if the jimusho is still saying otherwise. (They also told us that Moriuchi Takahiro would be back with NewS by the end of 2004, and I’m still waiting.) But I wouldn’t dare saying that in the forums. They’d probably hunt me down and stone me to death. Fundamentalists are so easily upset when you insult their prophets…
I’m not making fun of NewS or their fans, I’m just trying to keep my head straight. And I do understand that fans are upset and trying to hang on to the slightest chance that a year from now everything will be fine.
If Ya-Ya-yah were suspended because Shoon smoked pot, Hikaru stole a car and crashed it into a wall, Taiyo was having an indecent relationship with a 35-year-old woman or Yabu was caught shoplifting, I know I’d be upset, too. I’d be devastated. I’d be crying. I’d probably be thinking about killing myself, or Mr. Kitagawa, or anyone who told me to calm down and relax because it’s not the end of the world even if it feels as though it was.
I do feel sorry for NewS fans as well as for the other members. The one person I don’t feel sorry for is Kusano. I don’t know what really happened, none of us fans do. But I do know that Johnny is not known for burning money. Why would they spend millions reprinting calendars and re-recording cds if nothing had happened?
Oh well, my heart is not made of stone, so I DO feel kinda sorry for Kusano. He must be devastated.
