I’ve finally found out how all the new Juniors that seem to appear out of nowhere are recruited. They’re snatched right out of their mothers’ arms during concerts, dragged onto the stage without warning and given their first dance lesson in front of a couple of thousand people. And needless to say they’re thrilled, like 9-year-old Daichi in this clip from Takki’s 2005 Concert:
That boy seemed to have the time of his life. He actually reminded my a bit of Moriuchi-kun who used to look equally puzzled and helpless whenever they dragged him into the spotlight. By the time Daichi-kun is 14 he’ll either have joined Johnny’s or he’ll have committed suicide because of the constant teasing by his classmates. Kids can be so cruel if they’re given the chance.
And did I see this right, at the beginning of the song some audience member threw a present at Takki, who caught it and threw it right back? That fan must have been really happy that day.
