Alerted by Shin’s comment to my previous entry I did some research, and I came across a nice little rumour (and I hope it’s just a rumour, even though I find some parts of it rather intriguing).
According to this rumour, for this year’s Volleyball World Cup there will be two new units. The first one being YYANIATT(ヤマト). As one can easily guess YYANIATT is yet another acronym that’s made up of the initials of the member’s names:
Y 薮宏太 [Yabu Kota]
Y 八乙女光 [Yaotome Hikaru]
A 有岡大貴 [Arioka Daiki]
N 二階堂高嗣 [Nikaido Takashi]
I 伊野尾慧 [Inoo Kei]
A 浅香航大 [Asaka Kodai]
T 高木雄也 [Takaki Yuya]
T 手塚大貴 [Tetsuka Daiki]
Planned activities for YYANIATT are (supposedly) a theme song for this year’s Women’s Volleyball World Cup [Only one thing], and a song for an au LISMO commercial (au LISMO being a music download service for your mobile phone, if you’re an au customer that is). And that song will be START!.
The second unit will be called J-ME, which is obviously not another acronym as the members will be:
山下翔央 [Yamashita Shoon]
鮎川太陽 [Ayukawa Taiyo]
藤ヶ谷太輔 [Fujigaya Taisuke]
北山宏光 [Kitayama Hiromitsu]
加藤冠 [Kato Kan] (Yay!!!)
They will do a song for the Men’s Volleyball World Cup (Winner!), as well as a theme song for Hyakushiki.
Okaaaaaaaay…..
All that makes me think:
- Who the hell is Tetsuka Daiki? Wikipedia doesn’t have a lot of info on him, except that he was born on December 27, 1991, and that he’s in Johnny’s.
- Will Kitty be gone for good, or will Hikaru, Inoo and Kitayama now be in three units at the same time?
- One of these days they will come up with a group name that consists solely of consonants. Dsflkjhsfd.
- No A.B.C. members? Weird.
- Will Shoon and Taiyo actually get to sing, or will they just be back dancing for Fujigaya and Kitayama?
- Why is the second unit called J-ME and not FKKYA?
Apparently this rumour originated around January 22, and it was in a newspaper.
None of the sources say which newspaper or what kind of newspaper that was, but my guess is that it was a tabloid. And I find it rather strange that JE would leak this info to just one newspaper, and that no other newspaper or online news service would pick it up.
As I said, this rumour came up three and a half weeks ago, and Technorati now lists 50 blog posts about it.
And I’m thinking: if this were true, wouldn’t such a story pick up speed and every day more and more people would blog about it? Instead, as the graphic shows, this rumour seems to be dying. Which might also explain why it took so long for this rumour to reach overseas fans. Because there is nothing to it.
I don’t know. I think it might be true to the extent that there will be two temporary units for the Volleyball World Cup, just like there was Kitty last year while all the other units stayed intact. What really bugs me right now is that there are no A.B.C. members in these two new units. It doesn’t make any sense, unless of course A.B.C. will be busy with their own debut. OMG.
We should know by March 19. That’s when the April episodes of Shonen Club will be recorded. These episodes will air on April 8 and 15, and I am absolutely 100% sure that if there’s a debut in April the debuting unit will be featured big time in these Shokuras. (No Shokura in March, or probably just a clip show like last year.)
