I had the weirdest dream last night. The weirdest.
Okay, so I’m in Japan, in Tokyo. At a Johnny’s Jr. concert. I’ve just flown in from Europe, and I didn’t even have the time yet to check into my hotel because I didn’t want to miss the concert, so I have all my luggage with me at the concert venue. Speaking of the venue, it’s a really strange place, rather small, and not your regular concert hall or something. More like a club. There’s a bar, and chairs and sofas. At least the stage is reasonably large. There is no fixed seating order, you can sit or stand wherever you like. I found a great spot right in front of the stage. The odd thing is: I’m not the only gaijin in the audience. In fact, I see hardly any Japanese people at all. And most of the other gaijins don’t seem to be real Johnny’s fans, more like regular people. It almost looks as though Johnny’s has become a major attraction for foreign tourists, with the home crowd not caring too much anymore. There are some hardcore gaijin fans though, and I even though I’ve never seen them before I know exactly who they are. They’re some very famous people from the fandom, and many of you would probably recognize their names if I told them to you, but I won’t. Shortly before the concert is about to start two gaijin fans enter the stage and hold a little speech. They’re both wearing the Yabu/Hikaru Sgt. Pepper outfits. One of them (I don’t know her name) mentions how sad it is that Kamichan can’t be here. And even though I’m not the only gaijin, I’m pretty much the only guy around and I’m standing right in front of the stage, so she has to see me, and I wonder how she could not know that I am in fact me. The other girl however (and I know her name, well, her internet nickname at least) looks at me and smiles. Obviously she knows exactly who I am, but she doesn’t say anything, and that’s okay with me because I don’t really want too much attention. I just want to see the concert. However, the concert doesn’t start, there seems to be some kind of delay. Something is wrong with the stage hydraulics or the electricity or something like that. It’s a verys long delay, some 90 minutes or so, I’m thinking about going to my hotel first to get rid of my luggage, but I decide not to because I fear I might miss the concert.
And then it ends.
A Johnny’s related dream without any Johnny’s. I travel halfway around the world to see a concert that doesn’t happen. I recognize people I’ve never seen before. So weird.
