Remember that Heisei Families clip I posted a couple of days ago, the one where they played that word game again? I’ve been thinking about it, and I always thought there was something wrong with it, especially with the word pair they gave Yuto. The words were dango and kabuto, so the right answer was mushi (insect), because both dangomushi and kabutomushi are types of bugs. For some reason that question seemed way too easy to ask Yuto, but I wasn’t 100% sure why I thought that (besides the fact that even I knew the answer).
Today I’ve been reading a thread at 2ch.net about nicknames that Johnny’s boys use among themselves, and apparently Yuto’s nickname is mushi, because he’s crazy about insects. When I read that I remembered that I read it somewhere before, and he also actually talked about it on Shonen Club at least once. So yeah. Looking at that Heisei Families clip now makes me think they script even the games they play on TV, because asking someone who’s crazy about insects a question with the answer “insects” is a bit too much of a coincidence for me. I’ve now come to the point where I think that even all the Onigokko games on the Ya-Ya-yah show were scripted.
So anyway, there’s quite a number of other interesting nicknames the boys use for each other. Here’s a small sample. As always, hover your mouse over the words for romaji/translation. You can find more of these here.
中島裕翔=虫
八乙女光=苺
藪宏太=ヒラメ
森本慎太郎=寝
加藤冠=ティアラ
岡本圭人=毛糸
I have no idea how they come up with these. I mean, Kato Kan = tiara, what’sですよ!Keito, however, is just a simple pun. 毛糸 is pronounced “keito” just like 圭人, but it means knitting wool. Which reminds me of a confused teenager among my readers who likes knitting. You know who you are, and I’m warning you, granny: stay away from my Keito with your knitting needles! XD
Now I’m desperately trying to come up with a funny remark about Keito loving strawberry milk, but I can’t seem to think of any…
