Arashi Goes Golden
Golden Time that is. Starting this coming April Arashi will host a 1-hour variety program on TBS television, Thursdays at 8pm. It’s the first time for Arashi to host a program of their own during prime time (or golden time as it’s called in Japan). The name of the program is yet to be announced. (source)
Johnny’s Jimusho To Lift Image Ban?
Johnny’s Office has always been rather protective about their idols’ images, like, they never allowed pictures of them to be used even on offical websites related to any TV dramas these idols appeared in. Apparently that rigid policy is slowly softening, as can be seen here and here. If you look closely, however, you may notice that the pictures of Toma and Goro-chan are not photographs but drawings. Or photographs photoshopped to look like drawings. The Jimusho, as always, has no comments, but there’s a very interesting article about this whole issue over at J-Cast News.
Nakayama Plays Hardball![]()
Nakayama Yuma, star of the upcoming NHK drama Battery set off to Okayama prefecture on Sunday to start shooting on-location scenes. He describes his character Harada Takumi as “skilled and strong-willed”, and with a wry smile he adds “However, he is younger than me, and I need to learn from him.”
Last month, while on location in Chiba, Nakayama played a prank on the film crew. He made fake Okayama license plates from paper and attached them to the rear of the crew’s cars. One of them ran off without noticing, and caused a “counterfeit license plate incident”. It sounds like they were stopped by the police. The article, however, doesn’t give any details on that. Nakayama jokingly said: “From now on I’ll keep trying very hard at (making) trouble, even if it’s very small trouble.” (source)
I have to admit I wasn’t too much of a Nakayama fan until now, but I appreciate a good sense of humour and mischief in young people, so he just scored quite a few points with me.
Hey!Say!JUMP Calendar Delayed Further
According to YesAsia, the shipping date of the 2008/09 Hey!Say!JUMP Calendars has been pulled back another 4 days. The calendar, which seems to be highly popular, is now scheduled to ship on March 10. Price didn’t change.
And finally…
One! -the history of Tackey- Rocks!
I’ve watched the latest release of the grand old lady of the musical theatre, Takizawa Hideaki, and words cannot describe the awesomeness of it. If you liked Takizawa Enbujo you’ll love One! -the history of Tackey-. It’ll make you laugh. It’ll make you cry. It’ll make you wish you had been there to see a live performance at the theatre. This DVD is a must-have item, not only for Tackey fans but for all fans of Johnny’s Jr. It’s not exactly cheap, but trust me, it’s worth every single cent.
BTW, kudos to YesAsia for going with the times. While other retailers still list Ya-Ya-yah as co-stars (which was never evem true in the first place), YesAsia states “The musical also features Yabu Kota, Yaotome Hikaru, and Nakajima Yuto from Hey! Say! Jump, as well as Kis-My-Ft.II, JJ Express, ABC, and other Johnny’s Juniors.” Okay, technically that’s also wrong because Hey!Say!JUMP didn’t exist back then but what the heck. At least they’re not calling Yabu and Hikaru Ya-Ya-yah.
I uploaded this short clip of One! -the history of Tackey- (it’s really very short, about 8 minutes or so out of the 4 hours on this DVD set) because I love it. I love Tackey, I love Yuto, how could I not love this clip? I won’t bother to introduce all the other people because you probably pretty much know them all.
