Hey!Say!KIDS

by Kamichan | March 14, 2008

When I found out the news about the new Johnny’s TV program yesterday I posted about it so fast that I didn’t even have the time to think about it for a second. Well, now that I’ve had the time to sleep over it let’s see what I’ve been thinking…

Oh well, I don’t kow. A one hour generation battle with Yuto, Ryosuke and Ryutaro representing the Heisei generation, I can’t even begin to tell you how many awesome ideas shoot through my mind when I think about it. This could be really a lot of fun. Then again, Johnny seems to have a talent for wasting talent. I mean, YOUtachi! wasn’t really all that great. It sure had it’s enjoyable and entertaining moments, and those were usually when some of the kids who would otherwise sit bored in the background got involved in some kind of way. Same goes for Heisei Families. I totally enjoyed it when Yuto, Ryosuke and Ryutaro were involved. Unfortunately that was usually less than 10 minutes out of the 100 minutes the show ran. So while I’m really excited about the new show, but I’ll be very reluctant to praise it until I’ve seen it or at least a few more details about it.

Hi!Hey!Say! is another one of these shows that could have been great but that turned out to be boring as hell. Well, at least most of them. But there were also two or three episodes that were really entertaining, even though this didn’t even have anything to do with Yabu and Hikaru. I would have enjoyed the 2008.03.08 episode just as much if these two hadn’t been there at all. Because it had some other really amazing kids. And I mean really amazing. I mean, you know, I like kids. Like, generally. Except when you get to know them and dare to look behind that facade of their youthful prettiness very often you’ll find that most of them are just younger versions of the broad majority of dull, boring and useless adults, and once they’ve grown out of their pretty youthfulness there’s not a lot left that you could or should like them for. But there’s also some very different, very amazing and very talented young folks out there, and some of them aren’t even all that pretty but that doesn’t matter because they are amazing human beings even at a very young age. And two of them were in that last episode of Hi!Hey!Say!, and again, I’m not talking about Yabu and Hikaru.

And in other news…

One thing that has always mildly annoyed me since I started writing this blog is that when I google for information on a certain topic it usually doesn’t last too long until my Google search leads me back to my own blog. And then I read what I’ve written and I’m all like “oh wow, I didn’t know that!”. The only thing I find more annoying than finding my own content when I’m looking for information is finding my own content that is not on my own site. And that has been happening a lot lately. And here’s why it’s bothering be so much:

Ever since I’ve started my blog I’ve been trying to develop a voice, my own recognizable voice that when people hear it they say “hey, that sounds like Kamichan”. I’m not sure how well this has worked with other people so far, but it has worked pretty well with me. I’m not a fast writer. It usually takes me a lot of time to write even rather short blog entries, and that’s because I think a lot about every single line I write, play with it, change the wording, change the order of words until I’m satisfied with it. By the time I publish a blog entry I’ve usually read it 20 or 30 times and I know not only every single word in it but also the word that comes before and the word that comes after. So yeah, I do recognize my own voice when I hear it, and ever so often when I’m skimming through Google search results (which as you know are only two lines per article) I’m thinking “hey, that sounds like you”. And then you click on it and you find the whole article you’ve written, copied word by word to some other blog. After my last outburst about plagiarism the other day at least some people seem to have started crediting me and putting up a link back to my blog, but it still bugs me that they copy whole articles. I mean, imagine you read an article in Time magazine and in the end it says “copied from Newsweek”. That’d be kinda weird too, wouldn’t it? And what I find really annoying too is that some of the people doing this are even on my LJ friends list. Yeah, some friends they are.

But enough of that, because I’m way too happy today to be bothered with such crap, and you’ll find out the reason why I’m so happy in my next blog post which I’m gonna start writing right now, so you may want to check back here later.
