This is gonna be soooo corny but what the heck, I don’t care. I want it that way. So watch and learn from the master:
Dear Keito!
You make me want to be a better person because you need to be in a world where enough people try to get better at what they’re doing to make you end up trying too. You’re a bit like “if nobody else does it why the heck should I do it?”. If everyone around you is dull you’re doing great. Because you are not dull, and that makes you the coolest dog around without too much of an effort. Why change that?
Because if you were surrounded with greatness you’d get up off your butt and strive for greatness too. You can’t stand the thought of being an underachiever. And that’s why you’ll never be one. In any given group of people you’ll always try and manage to be above average. Your greatness is only limited by the greatness around you. You could grow beyond the greatness of others, but why bother? Life is good, and you don’t even have to try too hard. Why change that? You have no idea what you could achieve if you tried just a little harder. You could outshine them all one day, and if you don’t then just because you’re lazy.
You’re the kind of kid that makes me want to be a teacher. It must be so rewarding to be working with somebody like you because you’re so eager to learn. If you know there’s something worth learning. If there isn’t then you turn on the auto pilot and comfortably go with the flow. But if you’re offered a challenge then you get up and work really really hard.
But if you want to be lazy… that’s fine too, you know. It is my firm belief that a man should be entitled to laziness. If it gets him through life, why not? If you should ever drop out of Hey!Say!JUMP one day because this is too much work and too strenuous and you’d rather go back to your normal life where without even doing anything you’re the coolest guy around… who am I to blame you? I’d respect you even more for that because it’s actually a pretty cool attitude.
I don’t even think you wanted to become famous in the first place. I don’t think you ever said “Dad, can I join Johnny’s?”. But I can picture your Dad asking you “hey, wanna join Johnny’s?” and you said yes without even thinking about it. What’s there to think? Your Dad was in Johnny’s, he never spoke bad about it, you had no idea joining Johnny’s would ever be an option for you but now that it’s there, hey why not, let’s give it a try, what the heck. Can’t be that hard.
As for your future in Hey!Say!JUMP, if they should ever throw you out I’ll be very very angry because they don’t know what they’re missing.
If you should ever decide to drop out for whatever reason, even if it’s laziness, I’ll be fine with it if you want to do it because you can do it. Not a lot of people are lucky enough to get to do what they want to do, so if that happened to you that’d be cool.
If I can have any say in this, I’ll go for the third option: you’ll remain in Hey!Say!JUMP and you’ll do just fine. Of course you’ll always be the weird kid that says weird things and does weird things, but the others all like you because you’re just being yourself and you mean no harm. That’s a rare combination, you know. Being oneself without meaning any harm to others.
So what can I say, Happy Birthday Keito! Just keep being yourself and you’ll be doing great.
