The Hard-Knock Life

by Kamichan | April 27, 2008

I can’t believe I’m staying up until 2am every Sunday now to find out which Oliver makes it to the semi finals. Oh well, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do. Without further ado, here’s the video from last night’s show.

First a few words about the performance. They put Jordan in the center. Again. God, I really hope that means something. I want to see him go through so much. However, I was a bit unhappy with his diction this time, I thought his line was somewhat difficult to understand, and by that I mean if I hadn’t known the song I wouldn’t have understood what he was singing at all. But still love his voice. Actually I love it more and more every week, even though I’m ready to admit that it’s not the best of them all. But sometimes I don’t need best when I can get unique. Same goes for Gareth. Not the best voice either, but I can’t help it, I’m cheering for him and I want to see him go through as well. I was impressed with Arthur’s line in this performance. Not so much with Gwion’s though. Of all the ones that are through to the semi finals Chester is still my favourite. So Alexander made it too. I loved his reaction when Cameron Mackintosh told him. He’s got a good voice and I think he deserves to be in the semi finals. Okay, five boys through, three more to pick. Like I said, I really want to see Jordan and Gareth in the next round. But I kinda want to see Jonny and Laurence too. And Harry’s also great, although I still think he’d fit the role of Dodger a lot better. Jeez, I’m so glad it isn’t I who has to make that decision. That’s all for now. Once again I’ll edit this post with the Olivers’ Sunday night performance as soon as I have it. EDIT: And here it is, the Olivers performing Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King.

I lost my heart to Alexander tonight. I’m not sure how long it’ll last, but tonight I loved him. His appearance doesn’t really appeal to me all that much, but he’s talented and he’s got a beautiful voice. And, you know, I’m only human and like many I tend to stick with first impressions, but I really really like it when someone comes along who proves me wrong and who is able to turn me around by showing me something that I may have missed the first time. Alexander did that this weekend. Chester is still my favourite of the semi finalists, but I think Alexander could be a terrific Oliver. Way to go boy.

And in other news, Kamichan is a little sad tonight because Keisha had to leave. She was one of my three favourite Nancys but apparently the audience hated her from the start. Keisha had been in the sing off twice before and twice she had been saved by Andrew Lloyd Webber. But not this time. And you could see and hear that he was very angry that the audience didn’t appreciate her talent and her voice. Or, to put it more bluntly, he was absolutely pissed. And so was I. But what are you gonna do, the mob has spoken. As for the remaining girls, it has to be Jodie for me now.
