In Osaka

by Kamichan | July 7, 2008

Nothing much to say about yesterday’s Shonen Club from Osaka. Although it had its moments I have to admit I skipped most of the performances. I quite liked Nakayama Yuma Special Medley though. As I like him. He’s cool. And sexy. And gorgeous. And… you know. Some time ago I wrote how I like little imperfections, like Hikaru’s teeth. Or Yuto’s teeth, and the scar above his lip. Or Ryosuke’s ears. Things like that.

Yuma’s mouth is weird, his hair is weird, his voice scared me the first time I heard him speak, and I don’t know but there’s something freaky about him. But hey, I like freaks. Some of them. If they’re not too freaky. But he isn’t. He’s just right.

Actually I posted that one only for the few moments of Daiki from 1:45 to 1:57. No, not that Daiki. The other one. Shigeoka.

Okay, no, I’m kidding. Yuma is very cool.

Daiki’s very cute though.

So what else is new? I haven’t been around much, you know, comments, emails all have to wait at the moment. Sorry, but when I’m in my autistic state I can’t talk to people.

Three and a half weeks until Summary, and things are not looking good. How easy it used to be, back in the old days. God, why did they have to debut? There used to be such an abundance of tickets being auctioned off when they were still “only” Juniors. Most of them general sales tickets. And almost never going for 30,000JPY or more. Nowadays there is almost no tickets left for general sales.

Here’s my conspiracy theory, except it’s not a conspiracy, it’s just one of Johnny’s twisted ways: Summary sold out completely during the FC balloting. There weren’t even enough tickets for all FC members. And that is actually quite something, to sell out to FC members only. However, the whole balloting process lasted I don’t know what, five weeks or something. So that headline would have read “Hey!Say!JUMP and Johnny’s Jr. sold 100,000 tickets in 5 weeks”. Yeah that’s less than 3,000 per day. They’ve sold out things before, so what’s the big deal?

So what do you do? You take a small portion of the tickets away from the FC members, sorry guys, and you give them to general sales. Let’s say 5,000 or so. Only 5 percent of all tickets. And you make a big announcement “Hey, Summary tickets will go on sale next Saturday!”, and then two days later when all the 5,000 general sales tickets are sold you say “All 100,000 Summary tickets are now sold out!”, and everybody’s like “Oh wow, Johnny’s new act sold 100,000 tickets in only two days! Sugoi!!”

Yeah right.

There were so many people that balloted for yet even more tickets. And what was the success rate? One in eight? One in ten? I don’t know. All I know is that I was one of the chosen few. Very few. Which is really the biggest irony in the world, because the ticket was for the wrong date, so I ended up selling it to a very devoted fan.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that Summary sold out or almost sold out to FC members. Either way, there was not much left for general sales. That’s why the few tickets available on the black market now are almost all FC tickets. The other day I was offered a ticket for US$413. I had to pass on that one. But small supply = high prices. I guess that’s how our markets work.

Anyway, so that’s what I’ve been doing a lot recently. Thinking about all that, and whether or not it’s a wise thing to force it. I mean, for previous concerts the first attempt to get a ticket was usually successful, and when it wasn’t the first it was the second or third. But it never happened before that every single thing I tried did not work. So what am I gonna do? Try to be a hero and defy the odds and just go there in case someone offers me a ticket on the street for a really good price? Yeah right.

I’m having daymares about cancelling the trip and then sitting in front of the TV news about a plane crash or an earthquake that kills 3 million, and upon seeing that I’m dying of a heart attack.

Or I see myself on board that plane that’s about to crash, thinking “From day one everything kept going wrong.”
