My Chinese zodiac sign is Elephant. I never forget anything. Also, I have very thick skin and I can take a lot of shit before I start lashing out at people who annoy me. So if you manage to get me so mad at you that I start ranting about it in public, congratulations. You probably also would have succeded in making Gandhi hit you in the face with his fist.
So there is this person who has been annoying me for half a year now. She’s probably well known in the Johnny’s fandom for one reason or another. However, I won’t mention her real name nor her LJ name here because it doesn’t really matter. It’s not about the person. It’s about her behaviour. So for now let’s just call her… hm… how about buttkissr? Yeah, buttkissr it shall be. Btw, Google is just telling me that I’m not the first to come up with that name for her. Go figure.
About two and a half months ago when I was planning my trip to Japan I was offered to take part in buttkissrs FC balloting for Summary tickets. I happily agreed, and as it turned out I was the only lucky one to actually win a ticket with buttkissrs ballot. Unfortunately it was a ticket I couldn’t use because it was for a date when I’d already be on my way back home. Trading that ticket for one that would fit my schedule better didn’t work and I was looking out for other ways to get a ticket when I was told that buttkissr would be interested to buy my ticket from me because she could actually go on that day. Of course I agreed to that because I got that ticket through her, I couldn’t use it, she could, so why not?
A couple of days later she sent me 7,000JPY. That confused me a little because I had been under the impression that the price for a ticket was 7,400JPY. I confronted her with that and she replied that the price had actually been 7,700JPY, that’s 7,000 for the ticket and 700 in unrefundable fees. Like, when you ballot for a ticket you send 7,700JPY fo Johnny’s Family Club, and if you don’t win they refund 7,000, the rest is handling fees or whatever.
I had no idea why I was supposed to pay 700JPY in fees for a ticket that she was gonna use, but at that time I had other problems, I was very busy trying to get a ticket some other way and I had neither the time nor the power to fight over a meagre 700JPY. So I told her that and added “thank you for your payment, and enjoy the concert”. Never got a reply.
Well, as it turned out she’s not going to enjoy the concert, because last Sunday she sold off formerly-my-now-her Summary ticket on Yahoo!Auctions for a nice profit. When I saw that I sent her an email:
You couldn’t even pay me the full ticket price and then you went on to re-sell it on Yahoo!Auctions? You really suck big time.
I didn’t really expect to get a reply, but I did:
i usually ignore all of your immature comments but im going to say one thing and after that im blocking all of your emails
next time someone helps you get tickets with their fanclub, the least you can do is thank them. i could have easily told xxxxx that i didnt want you balloting with my name but i still let you
I think I have to explain that remark about “all of your immature comments”.
As you may or may not know, I’m an affiliate with YesAsia and CDJapan, so any sales through my affiliate links earn me 5-10% commission. Unfortunately I’m not the only one. There are a couple of people who constantly post their affiliate links to various LJ commuities, and there’s nothing wrong with that, if you do it in a decent and responsible way. You know, when I get up in the morning and Arashi have a new CD out I go to the Arashi LJ community. If no one has posted the links to CDJapan or YesAsia yet I’ll do it. If somebody has already posted CDJapan links I only post my YesAsia links. If somebody has already posted CDJapan and YesAsia links, well, then I’m too late and I don’t post my own links on top of that because it’s a) SPAM and b) annoying. That’s how the game works, or should work. You come first, you win. You come too late, sorry, better luck next time.
Well, apparently buttkissr is completely unaffected by such reasoning. She has no problems at all with posting her affiliate links on top of somebody else’s. The last time I saw her do that (not even to me but to somebody else) I left a comment that went along the lines of “the content of news in your post is zero, you only want to get your affiliate links clicked, your behavior hurts all affiliates because it annoys people and will sooner or later result in communities banning affiliate links“.
So apparently that kind of comment is “immature”. Well, if the adult, mature way is to not give a shit about anything or anybody else but your own profit and even to endanger your own profit because you get too greedy then I’ll happily admit that I’m very immature and I hope I’ll never ever grow up your way. Yup, that’s me right there in that picture. Very immature. Very angry too.
I have my own Yahoo!Japan ID, I could have easily auctioned off the ticket myself. But the thought never even crossed my mind because I wasn’t seeking to make a profit, there was a fan who helped me get the ticket in the first place and she said she wanted to see the show herself, so I thought I was doing a good thing in selling her my ticket. Obviously I’m not only immature, but also very naïve. And of course I’m ungrateful, because I didn’t say “thank you for ripping me off”.
So yeah, kids, what do we learn from all this? The world is a big bad place and there are a lot of strange people out there. Just be careful who you’re dealing with. It’s people like buttkissr that made me become a misanthrope. Don’t let it happen to you.
P.S. If anyone knows any Honduran rebels who do kidnappings, please let me know.
