Last night I saw a perfect example of how important your song choice is in a show like that. When people can’t make up their mind for an artist they may still phone in for a song they like.
I really like, I mean really like Jamie Pugh, the pizza delivery boy, and I would have loved to see him go through to the final on Saturday. However, I didn’t know the song he picked, I’ve never heard it before and I don’t want to hear it again. Jamie‘s performance, I hate to say, left me completely cold. And the audience too, apparently. He didn’t make it to the top 3 last night, and now he’s out.
And then there was 17-year-old Shaun Smith who sang U2‘s With or Without You. I’m not too excited about Shaun himself, but I love that song, and it was my favourite performance of the night. Yes, I’m that simple, and methinks so are a lot of people out there.
Shaun is through to the final, and so are Flawless who are pretty awesome but not quite as awesome as Diversity.
I’m really looking to tonight’s show now. Shaheen Jafargholi and Stavros Flatley will be on, and I want to see them both go through to the final. Well, it depends on their performances, if they totally mess up I might reconsider my enthusiasm. But I’m quite confident that both acts will do great.
