LOL, okay.

So Nakayama Yuma with B.I.Shadow were on Music Station tonight where they were billed as Yuma w/ B.I.Shadow. That’s a slight improvement on the name, and I wonder if they’re gonna keep it like that or if they only did it for Music Station because otherwise the name wouldn’t fit the screen. o_O

NYwBIS were featured in the Mini-Sute before the actual show, all wearing white costumes and standing next to the presenter, welcomeing the other guests. High fives with The Black Eyed Peas. Yuma told them “We are Yuma wiz B.I.Shadow”, and the Peas were like: “Uh… okay.”

JUJU with JAY’ED were the first to be interviewed and the first to perform. At the time Yuma was sitting between The Black Eyed Peas and Gackt, with B.I.Shadow sitting behind them, still wearing their white costumes. But once JUJU was done performing their white costumes had miraculously changed into colorful streetwear. Why? Nobody knows.

When it was the boys turn they were interviewed by Tamori and they all got to introduce themselves. We learned that Yuma is 15, Nakaken likes bananas and Yuugo likes Kamenashi Kazuya. It was all rather unspectacular, so they went on to perform their song Akuma na Koi

Oh well, what can I say? I had already started rolling my eyes at the atrocious English lyric fragments and I was fearing that the whole song would be like that. But luckily they started singing in Japanese soon enough. Akuma na Koi is one of these songs that have two completely different styles, and I have to say that I didn’t enjoy the first third of the song at all. I mean, the boys were nice to look at, but the style of the song and the weird Engrish lyrics… nah, not for me. I was about to get really disappointed when suddenly the song changed its pace and suddenly I enjoyed it quite a lot. Not the best Johnny’s song I’ve ever heard, but by far not the worst either. With a decent amount of pimping (i.e. another one or two MS performances, appeareances on Hi!Hey!Say!, School kakumei and elsewhere) they should be able to sell some 200,000 copies or so. And that would be a nice success for them. I wish them well.

But after this performance their name should really be Nakayama Yuma with B.I.Shadow featuring Morimoto Shintaro & Johnny’s Jr. D: I really love it when Shintaro gets solo lines, but honestly, this was the wrong place.

Btw, for all those who are still wondering if this is going to be a “real” debut I think it’s worth mentioning that the introductory VTR that the Music Station people put together made it quite clear: “2006: KAT-TUN, 2007: Hey!Say!JUMP, 2009: Yuma w/ B.I.Shadow.” So there.

So do NYwBIS work for me as a group so far? Yeah, I guess they do. I enjoyed watching their performance. Nakaken is the cutest guy in the world, Yuma is intriguing, and Yuugo seems like a nice enough kid. I have to admit I never really paid much attention to Kikuchi and Hokuto before today, but I think I’ll be able to warm up to them pretty quickly.

To sum it all up: it was a nice start to a hopefully long and successful career. Now I want more.

In slightly unrelated news, to hear Connie Talbot, Susan Boyle, Paul Potts and George Sampson being mentioned on Music Station was kinda surreal. o_O
