Okay, so after a good night’s sleep and a busy first half of the day things look a lot clearer.
Um… not?
No, I guess they don’t. It’s all still very confusing, and before I go on I’m gonna post the rest of yesterday’s Music Station. Well, not the whole rest, just the Yuma w/ B.I.Shadow bit, their introduction and talk. I’m doing this because I’m beginning to feel kinda stupid because I’m the one who keeps telling people who don’t believe this is going to be a real debut “It is!”. But what do I know? I’ve been in the Johnny’s fandom just over 5 years so I’m still pretty much a noob. But I’m not making things up, I just repeat what I see on TV and read in the papers.

So… with the whole “KAT-TUN… Hey!Say!JUMP… and now NYwBIS!” thing how anyone can still think this is not supposed to be a real debut is beyond me, even though there are some inconsistencies. Like, on Johnny’s Net their release is listed under Johnny’s Jr., pretty much like the original Hey!Say!7, whereas Hey!Say!JUMP got their own tab in the artists menu right away when their debut was announced.
I’m also the one who keeps saying that none of Johnny’s debuted artists have ever completely failed. And that is true. However, just because it has never happened it doesn’t mean that it never will. There’s a first time for everything. So is this the one? I don’t know. Nobody knows. Not even Johnny knows. He’s been doing this for less than 50 years, so he’s pretty much a noob as well, and I’m sure he still learns something new about this business every day.
Of course he wants NYwBIS to do well and be the next big thing. But he’s not stupid and he’s not going to burn money. If Akuma na Koi isn’t at least certified Gold (for 100,000+ sales) the boys are gonna spend the next couple of years withering away on Shonen Club until NYwBIS will be dismantled, and the spare parts will join Shintaro, Uekusa and Kyomoto for the next big thing which will probably be called The Next J-Neration or something like that. And if Akuma na Koi even goes Platinum (250,000+) we’re gonna see a lot more of them in the next couple of years. Maybe even more than Hey!Say!JUMP, but that doesn’t take a lot these days. :/
So, if you want to know what I think is going to happen wait until mid-July and I will tell you. Until then everything is possible.
And in other news… lots of new readers in the last couple of days. Thanks for dropping by. Please take a few moments and subscribe. Thank you.^^
