SMAP’s Kusanagi Tsuyoshi is wearing clothes again and will this week start filming his new comedy series Ninkyo Helper which airs Thursdays at 10pm on Fuji TV, starting in July.
Kusanagi stars as the boss of a yakuza group. As part of training, his group’s parent organization orders all of its subordinate bosses to work as nursing helpers at an elderly institution. This includes Kusanagi, as well as Kuroki Meisa who plays a female yakuza boss who starts out as Kusanagi’s rival. (Tokyograph)
So far so good, but the really great and exciting part is that Yabu Kota (a member of the long forgotten group Hey!Say!JUMP) will co-star in this series as a Yakuza underling.
I don’t really expect Yabu’s role to be very big, but still, it will be great to see him again in a TV series after 5 years. It will also be very interesting to see if his acting improved at all, as he wasn’t really all that convincing in 3-nen B-gumi Kinpachi Sensei back in 2004/05.
But yeah, this is great news. Go Yabu!
