This article is about a type of idol. For the astronomical phenomenon see G-type main sequence star.
First off though…
The October Shonen Club episodes were recorded at Tokyo’s NHK Hall today, and as I’ve already mentioned yesterday Hey!Say!7 were guests.
According to fan reports they performed NYC, Dial Up, Asia no yoru (Yamachan), Nounai Dance, and You & You (Chinen solo, yay!). The two soloists, because they never get any attention, also took part in the Junior Colosseum segment.
Unfortunately there will be no 7 wo abake. During rehearsals it turned out that 7’s chipmunk voices sounded excactly like their real voices, so the producers thought it would be pointless to go on with it. There will be Kis-My-Ft2 wo abake instead.
Haha, okay, I made that up. The part about 7’s voices. The Kisumai part is true though.
Anyway, all that is still a couple of weeks away, and there was a Shonen Club yesterday as well, which got kinda lost among all the Tokyo Dome news.
Does anyone remember that awkward little kid who looked like he was spaced out on Ritalin and who had no idea what was going on around him? I know, I keep asking that every time I post one of his performances, but seriously, Shintaro is the greatest dwarf star in the universe. His confidence and his command of the stage are almost unrivaled in any of his senpais when they were his age. It’s quite amazing really. And don’t even get me started on his million dollar smile.

That kid is friggin’ 12!!! Do I even dare to imagine what he’ll be like at 15? Or 20? Yes, I do: he’ll be awesome. Mark my words.
Anyway, letter segment was cute as hell. Shintaro thinks Juri is funny at any rate, and the next time it snows he wants them to go snowboarding together. For some reason I seem to be able to understand Shintaro a lot better than Juri. I didn’t get a word Juri was saying, except for the “in the future let’s keep doing our best together in private and at work” at the end. I’m dying to know what it was that Juri said that made Shintaro produce that adorable giggle at 1:22. Somebody please enlighten me.
As for the performance… Oh well, I don’t even know what to say. I mean, you’ve seen it, what is there to say? This one ranks easily in the Top5 of my all time favourite Shonen Club performances ever. So much fun to watch, and Shintaro makes it seem so effortless, and like he’s having the time of his life. Well, I guess he is. And I’m having the time of my life watching it. Go Shintaro!
