I got my HSJ photobook! :D

by Kamichan | November 28, 2009

Yes, I got my photobook on Saturday, and I have to say things about it, even though it’s kinda old news a week after it’s release when everybody has already seen the scans, but sometimes you just need to hold things in your own hand to see how good or bad they are.

First off, I was mildly annoyed to find that the box my photobook came in had been opened by customs officials. I mean, what were they looking for? There’s a customs declaraction on the outside that says “Book, total value 1,905 Yen”, and in the box there’s a book with a price tag of 1,905 Yen. >_> Besides, don’t they use x-ray machines nowadays so they don’t have to open packages? I guess they were a bit suspicious that this book came in such a huge box. Books are usually a lot smaller, I’ll give’em that. How is a customs official supposed to know that a Hey!Say!JUMP photobook would be so BIG.

Yeah, I myself was in awe when I opened the box because the book is a lot bigger than I thought and also a lot fatter than I thought. And the quality of the photos and the paper they’re printed on is just great. To make a long story short: this photobook is excellent value for money. I may have mentioned it before, I’m not too keen on concert photos, I would have preferred more studio photo shoots, but after going through the whole book three times now I have to say I’m thrilled about the whole thing, and I’m really really happy I bought it. I will probably put it back into its bubblewrap and store it somewhere safe because it’s almost too pretty to look at and I’d hate to spill Photobook Yamadatea on it or have greasy fingerprints all over it. I should have bought two of them. One to look at every day, and one to stow away in its pristine mint condition as a beautiful and precious treasure.Photobook Yabu 1

Very early in the book there are two extreme close ups of Yamada and Yabu, and by extreme I mean that their faces fill up almost the entire page which, considering the size of the book, makes them almost life sized pictures. I wish they had suchPhotobook Yuto extreme close ups of all the other members as well. That’s a tiny little bit of a letdown. But I’m not complaining. All the double pages of the individual members are great and very pretty to look at, and the one of Yuto on the drums is Photobook Ryutaroprobably worth the price of the whole book all by itself.

There are a few photoshoot photos, two of each member, all in white, and they’re awesome as well. My favourites of those are the ones of Ryutaro and Yabu because they’re just awesomely pretty.Photobook Yabu 2

So yeah, after a year of no CD releases Kamichan is finally a very happy little fanboy again today because this photobook reminds me of why I love JUMP so much. ♥

In other news, I’ve finally obtained the 2009.11.17 episode of Hyakushiki. I’ll post it tomorrow. I’ll have to re-encode it first because 718MB for a show of 23 minutes is just insane, so please bear with me. Anyway, at the end of the show Keito is advertising the photobook, so I’m gonna post that clip here and now because it fits the theme of this blog post so nicely.

You heard the man! Buy this photobook now, and if you already have it buy it again! Preferably from YesAsia or CDJapan. ^^

Btw, I love how Keito actually says “first” and not “faasuto”. I guess that’s what a good education does for you.
