Okay, so we have the first Johnny’s release for 2010. Tegomass will release their first Live DVD on January 20th (preorder from YesAsia or CDJapan). I’ve been thinking and I’ve come to the conclusion that if Hey!Say!JUMP are gonna release a single for Hidarime Tantei EYE then they shouldn’t do it any earlier than January 27th or February 3rd. You know, have it released a couple of weeks after the TV series starts. Definitely not before, because apparently it doesn’t work that way. I think it was a stupid idea to release Snow Prince the single before Snow Prince the movie, and one could have seen this coming if one had remembered Ponyo. The song was released in December 2007, but it didn’t become a Top10 hit until the movie was released more than seven months later. So yeah, if you have a tie-in song for a movie or a TV series, you want to have people watch the movie or series first so they can then go “Oh I loved it, I must buy the song now“. Even though Snow Prince was only 6th in the daily sales charts yesterday I still think the song can make it to #1 eventually if the movie does really well at the box office. And I mean really well.
Shintaro and Snow Prince Gasshoudan will do their best to make the movie a success. Next Friday they will appear on Music Station (yay!), and on Saturday the movie opens nationwide and Shintaro and his film co-stars will attend special greeting events at cinemas on Tokyo and Yokohama. Snow Prince probably won’t gross 10 billion Yen at the box office like Ponyo did, but if it does reasonably well (and I really hope it will) sales of the song will also pick up.
In other news, not only the youngest Johnny’s boys will be on Music Station next week but also the oldest, as Kondo Masahiko will present his new single. That should be really nice, to have the youngest and the oldest on the same show together. Looking forward to that.
And finally, because I haven’t posted it yet, here’s the Snow Prince PV. I don’t really give a damn about bad sales, it’s a lovely song and a lovely PV to go with it. You can download it as a 714*404 avi file in great quality and with the correct ascpect ratio of 16:9 which means that the full moon does indeed look like the moon and not like an egg in the sky.
