As you may or may not have noticed I started a Johnny’s Fandom Survey last night. If you’re a member of one of the bigger Johnny’s communities on Livejournal you have probably seen it on your f-page. The response so far is pretty overwhelming. More than 2,000 people have already taken the survey in the first 12 hours, which is very exciting. The survey will be up until January 2nd, 2010 to give the greatest possible number of people the chance to take part in this (I fogured over the holidays many people will find a minute or two to answer the 12 questions). The results will be revealed on January 3rd, but I can already say that some of them may be a bit of a surprise. Anyway, if you haven’t taken the survey yet you can do it now…

In other news, Hey!Say!JUMP fans seem to be somewhat split in their evaluation of HSJ’s new song Romeo & Juliet. While many think it’s a cute song others think it’s a bit too childish, but I guess most people will agree that cute or not, it just isn’t good enough for a CD. Unlike Hitomi no Screen, which will be the theme song for Yamachan’s drama series Hidarime Tantei EYE and which will hopefully be released as a single next year.
For those who haven’t heard it yet, there is a fanaudio that was recorded during one of their recent concerts. Of course the audio doesn’t come in CD quality, but it’s good enough to make up your mind about the song, and to fall in love with it, which is what happened to me the very first time I listened to it. Seriously, if this were to be their next single I’d be the happiest fanboy in the world. Hitomi no Screen (or Hitomi no sukuriin, if you prefer that way of writing it) is an excellent theme song for a TV series, and it has a great catchy chorus that makes me want to get up and dance. And that says something because the last time I danced was in 1992. Now don’t get the wrong impression, HnS isn’t exactly a dance tune, but what the heck, if Snow Prince Gasshoudan can dance to Snow Prince then I can dance to Hitomi no Screen. XP
The “I love you” part is totally cheesy and 100% fan service, and I don’t really need that type of thing, but as you can hear it makes little girls scream, and little girls who screem are also little girls who buy the CD, so that’s okay I guess.
So yeah that song gets two thumbs from me, plus four fingers crossed that it will be released as a single, even though when you’re doing the thumbs up and the finger crossing at the same time it looks really stupid.
And finally, if like me you didn’t really like the negative review Japan Times Online gave Snow Prince ~ Kinjirareta koi no melody the other day then you’ll be delighted to hear that other journalists have a very different opinion of the movie. Snow Prince made it to The Guardian’s Top 10 films of 2009 you probably won’t have seen list, and they say that “Everything about this poignant account of bourgeois Marino Kuwajima’s adolescent friendship with impoverished artist Shintaro Morimoto is exquisite“. Yay! Go Snow Prince!
