Slow news day, so I decided to post another old video. Yay.

There are a couple of Johnny’s songs that will never lose their appeal for me, no matter how old they get or who performs them because they’re just good songs and I enjoy listening to them. Yuuki100% for example, or Can Do! Can Go!, or Seishun Amigo, or Garasu no shonen.

Or Love Together.

Of course I came to love this song because of Ya-Ya-yah‘s 2002 cover version of it, but Domoto Koichi originally wrote and produced it for ☆☆I★N★G★進行形 in 2001. Apparently all the stars are an essential part of the name, I’ve copied it like this from their Wikipedia page, so it’s not just I.N.G.進行形 or something but indeed ☆☆I★N★G★進行形 (even in the following video). And even back then the Jimusho showed great creativity when it came to creating group names. The I stands for 1 (because they were formed in 2001), and the NG stands for New Generation. And 進行形 [shinkoukei] means “in progress”. So there.

I’ve already posted ☆☆I★N★G★進行形 performing Love Together on Pop Jam in 2001, but that was almost three years ago, so it’s about time for another version, one that looks and sounds a lot better. It’s from Music Station 2001.06.29. Back then the Jimusho was so poor that they couldn’t even afford any shoes…

Watching this video just now really made me wonder what became of Rafai Eddy. It turns out – blessed be Google – that after graduating from the American School in Tokyo he left Japan for San Fransico in 2006, is currently majoring in Business at the University of San Francisco and he also plays for their soccer team where, ironically, he’s still classified as “Junior”. There you go. I wonder what would have happened if back in 2001 Johnny had said: “Let’s debut them ING guys”. o.O
