So, the Hitomi no Screen CD covers are finally out, and they look….. like this:

Well what can I say? There certainly have been some awesome CD / record covers in the history of rock / pop music, but I’ve never been one who would make a buying decision based on the cover art because when I buy music I want music. Great cover art is a nice plus, but I don’t really care too much about it. Which is a good thing in this case because to be perfectly honest I think the Hitomi no Screen covers are a bit on the boring side. Especially the Limited Edition cover looks almost exactly like Mayonaka no Shadow Boy, you know, the same kind of colours and all that. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if when Hitomi no Screen is released Mayonaka no Shadow Boy would make a spectacular re-entry into the Oricon Charts because people might actually pick the wrong CD off the shelves.
When I look at the covers of all five Hey!Say!JUMP singles so far I think it’s kinda ironic that my least favourite single is the one with my favourite cover. I’m talking about Your Seed / Bouken Rider. It’s also ironic that Your Seed which I consider to be HSJ’s darkest song had the brightest and most colourful CD cover.
Anyway, the HnS covers are what they are, and I don’t really care because I really do love the song, and the PV preview looks absolutely awesome as well.
One more thing about the covers: on the Regular Edition it apparently says “Romeo & Juliet” instead of “Hitomi no Screen” which makes it almost look like it’s supposed to be a double A-side CD. But that would only make sense if they released R & J as a special Valentine’s Day gift for their fans. However, that would only work if they had released it before Valentine’s Day and not eight days after. Oh well.
Anyway, the Limited Edition is sold out at CD Japan, and I don’t think they’re gonna restock, but apparently it’s still available from YesAsia and from Amazon.co.jp, so you might want to hurry up and get it while you still can.
